3D human scanning technology-another battle for tech giants

Microsoft demonstrated three 3D scanning methods at the technology festival, but the lab is still looking for more ways. At the end of the high-quality display, Microsoft connected a small green screen to 6 digital cameras for 3D scanning. The other two project teams also performed high-quality 3D scanning with more basic tools. Among them, the first method uses a spatial depth-sensing camera based on the Xbox Kinect sensor; and the other scanning method uses only one application of Windows Phone for the required image collection.

Lee said that Microsoft is more inclined to use the Kinect sensor solution, and the company also plans to add this feature to the next version of the Kinect developer software toolbox. He also said: "We will wait and see the response from consumers."


Intel shows the results of 3D human scanning technology:


On January 6, Las Vegas, USA, at the CES2015 exhibition, Intel demonstrated advanced 3D scanning technology. Through a handheld PC device equipped with an Intel processor, users can scan the object's head 360 degrees. After the data is transmitted to the system, the finished product in the picture can be produced by laser cutting.

3D scanning technology is not a very new topic. Its difficulty and focus is on the complexity of the device. Intel has undoubtedly made some breakthroughs.
